Our Team of consultants

Our strength lies in the people in the team of consultants we maintain. The team members bring together a wide range of skills and expertise from years of practice. The team is comprised of five senior consultants and associates. The senior consultants are also thematic team leaders who provide strategic business direction in their area of expertise and can engage associates on assignments depending on the complexity of work and expertise required.

Judy Gachathi, MBA

Judy GachathiMs. Gachathi is currently the Management Services Coordinator of PMDC. She has over 17 years working experience with NGOs as well as in the Educational sector in Kenya and the UK. She has organizational development, staff leadership, program development and project management skills. Ms. Gachathi has consultancy experience in conducting organizational capacity assessments, developing resource mobilization plans and human resource review. She has been actively involved in proposal, budget development as well as donor reporting. She has also taught in Kenya and the UK and facilitated Micro finance training sessions with Civil Society groups across Kenya. Ms. Gachathi holds a Masters in Business Administration and Bachelor of Education.



Thomas Kirongo, MBA
Thomas KirongoMr. Kirongo holds a MBA in Strategic Management, Bachelor of Education degrees and Executive Diploma in Resource Mobilization. He is an organizational development and change management specialist with vast experience in capacity development particularly for the Not-For-Profit Organisations (NPOs). Mr. Kirongo is a Strategy and Governance Development specialist. He also supports the formation and management of networks and coalitions. He is a leader and trainer in Civic Education, Partnership and Networking and Policy Influencing and is credited with providing leadership for a number of successful sector-wide policy advocacy and civic education campaigns in Kenya such as development of standards for Kenyan CSOs, and review and development of Kenya Public Benefit Organisations Act 2013.
Mr. Kirongo areas of expertise includes: Organisational Capacity Assessments (OCA) and Development of Organisational Capacity Enhancement Plans, Organisational Development, Governance and leadership development, Strategic Planning (Balance Scorecard), Work Programming and Planning; Advocacy and Policy Influencing , Partnerships and Networking , Resource Mobilization and Training, Facilitation and Mentoring.


Mr. Sammy Keter, MA
Mr. Sammy KeterMr. Keter is a social development specialist with a Masters Arts degree in Sociology with over 20 years relevant working experience, 15 of these in senior management positions at country and international level. Mr. Keter has active in the areas of programme management, research and development, monitoring, evaluation, learning and communication, resource mobilization and the development of quality assurance and marketing systems for Civil Society and private sector organisations.


Mr. Keter has been involved in change management in various capacities including designing and setting up new programmes and development initiatives. He helped set up and design a highly innovative social protection programme for DFID and the Government of Kenya between 2007 and 2009. Others includes the establishment of the first regional marketing and fund raising function for Intermediate Technology Development Group Eastern Africa (ITDG/Practical Action) between 1998 and 2003 and the establishment of Africa wide regional partnership development function for Actionaid International, having contract management, fund raising, donor policy analysis and advocacy. He has wide experiences in change management processes and helped develop capacities for various national and international including Heifer International Kenya, Oxfam GB (Kenya), Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Adventist Development and Rehabilitation Agency (ADRA), UNWOMEN; EC-funded Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) and Pact Kenya (now Act!); was the lead consultant for a capacity building on monitoring and evaluation systems for 6 Civil Society Partners for Diakonia, a Swedish NGO.



George Karanja, BA


Mr. Karanja is a development specialist with over 20 years of experience working with non-profit organizations in Africa including Action Aid International Kenya, German Technical Assistance (GIZ) and Poverty Eradication Network. He has held senior position and is now an independent consultant. Over the last 8 years, Mr. Karanja has focused his attention in organisational development; supporting organisations enhance their performance in achieving their stated mission. George is a graduate of Nairobi University and holds an executive post graduate diploma in Fundraising. He has undertaken several institutional strengthening initiatives with among others Action Aid International Kenya, Africalia Belgium, UNDP Amkeni Wa Kenya, AED, Diakonia Kenya Country Programme and the African and Economic Justice Programme. Mr. Karanja heads the Organisational Development and training thematic consultancy area.


Judith Gondi, MBA
Ms. Gondi is a fully qualified accountant and has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations (NPOs) to help them design, implement and strengthen their finance, human resource and administration systems. In addition to being PEN's Finance and Administration manager, Ms. Gondi works as a consultant for PMDC in the areas of Finance, Administration, Human Resource and Risk management. Ms. Gondi has set up PEN's management policies and systems from scratch to a level where PEN is referred to for best practice in the voluntary sector in Kenya.
Among the major initiatives that she has been involved with include development of finance and administration manuals and setting up of management systems for Kuona Trust , Kwani Trust, GoDown (Kenya), Busara and Zanzibar International Film Festival (Zanzibar) and LEAT under the auspices of Ford Foundation. Ms. Gondi has 10 years experience managing PEN's accounts with the following donors: Ford Foundation, Action Aid International Kenya, Plan International, USAID, Act! Kenya, PACT INC, European Commission, Oxfam GB, Finnish Embassy, UNDP, Australian Aid (AUSAID) and Africalia. She is a fully qualified accountant with an MBA, BBA, CPA (K).

Moses Mwangi, MBA

Moses MwangiMr. Mwangi is an expert on Monitoring and Evolution having monitored projects in the countries of horn of African including Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. He has conducted Baseline Studies, Midterm Evaluation and End of Project Evolution. He has monitored projects in Education, Agricultural, livelihoods, and Emergency interventions among others. He has designing Monitoring and Evaluation system for regional interventions including the development of indicators, log-frame, and quarterly & annually reporting system. He has been involved in the development of the M and E Curriculum at AMREF Africa where he has been an M and E facilitator since 2006 to date. He has also built the capacity of other NGOs on M and E system.

Mr. Mwangi has consulted for several institutions in relation to transport issues. He has worked with the East African Business Council, Shippers Council of East Africa (formerly Kenya Shippers Council), The Kenya Transport Association, the Federation of East African Freight Forwarders, Uganda Shippers Council, Tanzania Transport Association and Tanzania Joint Border Committees of Tanzania. He holds an MBA in Management Science, Bachelor of Commerce in Transport Economics and a BA in Economics.

Tuesday Gichuki, PhD
Tuesday GichukiDr. Gichuki holds a PhD in Development Studies, MBA, and Bachelor of Architecture degrees. He has more than 34 years' experience in Government, Private Sector, Academia and Civil Society organizations. Dr. Gichuki's experience includes Basic and Applied Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, Strategic Planning, Training and Capacity Building, Organizational Development, Urban and Rural Planning, Program Development and Management, Development Planning, Change Management, Value Chains Development, Business Development Services and Resource Mobilization. He also has experience in Environmental Impact Assessment, Visual Impact Assessment, Gender Analysis and Gender mainstreaming. He has led advocacy campaigns and successfully brought on board mainstreaming of Gender, Poverty, HIV/AIDS and Environmental issues in Government Development Plans and Budgets in Uganda. Dr. Gichuki has worked in a number of countries, including Sierra Leone, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is currently Team Leader in development and implementation of COMESA Youth Empowerment Program.

Domisiano K. Mwabu, PhD
Dr. Mwabu has a PhD (Policy Analysis and Planning), MSc (Policy Analysis and Planning) and a BSc (Computer Information Systems), all obtained from Pacific Western University (USA). He has vast experience spanning over 15 years in data analysis/management, research, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, etc. He is currently working for a food security research project of the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) as Scientist (socioeconomics) where he is in charge of socioeconomic analysis of the project. While at KARI he has participated in several surveys (baseline, technology evaluation and adoption surveys) and in collaboration with other scientists, he has produced various reports and research papers, and is on the process of producing many others.

Dr. Mwabu has consulted for University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Moi University, African economic Research Consortium (AERC), World Bank, UN agencies (ECA, UNDP and UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of Health, Plan International, Transparency International, Snowmount Centre for Business Development and Poverty Eradication Network/PMDC. Among his latest major assignments as a Consultant are the completion of the Human Resources for Health for the Kenya's Ministry of Health, Value Chin Analysis of Aloe, Honey and Charcoal in Mwingi, Ijara, Kwale and Makueni for the Kenya Forestry Services (KFS), Contribution of ICT to Africa's Latest Development for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and Arusha Town Strategic Plan (all done between January 2014 and August 2014). Dr. Mwabu is well versed in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and is comfortable in the use of statistical/econometric software such as SPSS, Stata, EPI Info and Excel, and qualitative data software such as NVIVO.

Boniface Kaburu, B.A.

Mr. Kaburu has over 20 years of experience working for various NGOs since graduating from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Geography in 1994. He has served under the Committee of Experts (CoE) as a Constituency Civic Education Coordinator (CCEC) on the New Constitution as a trainer of trainers. He has worked as a resource Person and Consultant for UN Women, Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), Abantu for Development, INADES Formation, Poverty Eradication Network (PEN), Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICE) and Regional Institute for Social Enterprise in Kenya (RISE Kenya). Mr. Kaburu is hired by various County Governments (such as Nairobi, Machakos and Kitui) to train their County Assemblies and County Executives on Policy Formulation, Project Cycle Management, Resource Mobilization and Strategic Planning; As a consultant he is involved in facilitating Organizational and Institutional Capacity Assessments, baseline surveys, research, needs assessments and evaluations.

Jones Musyoki Kimeu, MBA,
Jones Musyoki KimeuMr. Kimeu is an Enterprise Risk Management, Audit, Corporate Governance Monitoring & Evaluation specialist and has over fifteen years' experience business assurance (risk and audit) function. Mr. Kimeu has also been engaged in the preparation of client reports, presentations and has presented assignment findings before clients. He also leveraged good client relations and has continuously responded to client feedback on assignments.
He was formerly the Director in-charge of Risk Management & Internal audit department within the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK); the country's ICT regulatory authority with reporting responsibilities to the Board, Audit Committee. Mr. Kimeu has Masters in Business Administration (MBA for Executives) - Strathmore Business School, Nairobi, Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK); and Member of ISACA: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA); and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) of Kenya.

Amos Johnson Waweru, Msc Entrepreneurship

Mr. Waweru has been working as a consultant and has over 10 years experience in value chain and enterprise development in projects on dairy, tea, livestock and horticulture in Kenya and other East Africa countries. Mr. Waweru also has 'hands on' experience in project cycle management including financial management, team management, budget management, work-planning and related M & E. He has practical experience in designing of large scale interventions within programmes such as Micro Enterprise Support Programme Trust which is a collaboration between EU and the Kenyan Ministry of Trade, evaluation and impact analysis of large scale programmatic interventions, and experience working with organsiations like GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) in USA and the Regoverning Markets projects by IIED (International Institute for Environment and Development) in UK. Mr. Waweru holds a Masters in Science in Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science & Postharvest Technology both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT).

Kennedy Tsosy Getange MSc Public Policy and Management
Mr. Getange had over 24 years experience in Program Evaluation, Needs /Capacity Assessments, Governance & Public Finance, Appraisals/Evaluations, HR Management in public sector organizations, Monitoring and Evaluation. He is also a Trainer/facilitator in Capacity building (Grants Management and compliance, including systems development). Mr. Getange speaks fluent French and has knowledge of Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for (evaluation) data analysis. Mr. Getange has worked in Liberia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Eritrea, Malawi, Niger and Kenya among other African Countries for several UN Agencies, International development partners such as DANIDA, Save the Children, World Vision, APPROTEC and Ernst & Young Management Consultants. He has an MSC in public policy and management from the University of London, among other degree and professional qualifications.

Barbara Nyambura Wambui, MA Project Planning
Barbara Nyambura WambuiMs. Nyambura is a visiting lecturer in the Nairobi University and Mount Kenya University where she lectures on project management courses. She is a research and training consultant and offers a wide range of services in Project management and training, mentoring and coaching for sustainable business management and development in Africa. Some of the core services she provides include Projects and organisational monitoring and evaluation, Baseline surveys, Mid-term and summative evaluations, trainings on Project management software's, Project management tools and methodologies, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Project/Program design, implementation and evaluations, Impact Assessments, Strategic Planning and Institutional Development. She is currently the vice chair of Kenya association of Project Managers.


She undertakes organisational strengthening assignments, like reviewing of strategic plans for NGO'sand the private sector. Most recently with the emergency of Kenya's new constitution she has been involved in aligning organisational Goals and objectives to the new county government policies in Kenya including implementing participatory monitoring and evaluation frameworks to monitor progress and measure results for several organisations. On voluntary basis she is involved in several youth mentorship and couching forums where she spearheads on youth entrepreneurship and sustainability as she trains and mentors on business development and financial management. Ms. Nyambura is pursuing a doctorate degree in Project management specialising in monitoring and evaluation (University of Nairobi). She is also a holder of a master's degree in project planning and management from the same University.
